2011 Costumer of the Year

Tomorrow is the last day of September, so you know what that means. October 1st will be here before we know it...and that means its time to start thinking about Halloween and all the fun that goes along with costume shopping!

TCC has been scouring the web searching for the BEST costumes from the BEST company with the BEST prices and the BEST customer service. After much looking, we've found our...

Costumer of the Year

Aren't you just DYING to know who's earned our prestigious title??? Well wait no longer because we're ready to share! Our 2011 Costumer of the Year is....

COSTUME EXPRESS!!!

COSTUME EXPRESS!!!

We chose Costume Express for a number of reasons:
Costume Express sent us these darling Cupcake Fairy Costumes to check out. The girls haven't stopped wearing them! I'm in love with them. They are well-made and so unique (have YOU ever seen a Cupcake Fairy costume before?) and the little details are precious! We took the fairies down to a huge Charleston landmark, The Angel Oak for a little photoshoot. Look how adorable they are!

I love Daycie's face in that one. She's waaaaay excited. LOL

(A HUGE thanks to Anna of Nanny Goat Photography for capturing these precious shots!)

You should know that I added a couple of things for my little fairies.

I added the pink headbands and hairbows (we were having a little trouble keeping the cupcake headbands on...the crochet headbands REALLY helped but you MUST have a bow to match!)

I also added Fairy Glitter make-up (Hensley said she couldn't be a fairy without it. Obviously she knows something I don't know.)

Their shoes -- obviously. Daycie's are Circo Brand sparkly sneakers...got them for $4 on clearance at Target several months ago, but any pink sparkly shoes would work. Hensley's shoes are her faves...custom-made Chuck Taylor's with Swarovski Cystal-embellishments. (The toes have princess crowns in crystals on them...they are KILLER.) Hensley calls them her Chucks (appropriately) and told me very matter-of-factly, "You can't be a fairy unless you have these." Again...apparently she's more in-the-know than I am about this stuff.

The wings. I altered the wings a little. The straps were a little big on my girls (would have worked, but on Halloween night I need their costumes to make it COMFORTABLY around the entire neighborhood) and they were made so that the cupcake designs faced away from the child when wearing. Because I had to take the straps in anyway, I decided to move them to the other side so the cupcakes on the wings faced the same direction as H or D. I used hot glue and scissors. No sewing machine needed. I did burn the crap out of my finger in the process, but other than that, everything came out wonderfully. I also added the flowers in the center of the back...got them from AC Moore for around $4 each but these were leftover from their costumes last year so they didn't technically cost me anything this time around.

Do you really *need* to do any of that stuff? No. But I'm a Stay-at-Home-Mom and a craftaholic...I couldn't help myself.

All in all, I am THRILLED with Costume Express and our experience with them. My girls were the stars of the show at Angel Oak during the photoshoot. There were dozens of people taking pics of them and several commented on how unique their costumes were. I can't wait to take my little Cupcakes around the neighborhood on Halloween night. We LOVE Halloween and the girls do too -- they are SO excited about their costumes this year!

Head over to Costume Express now to order your kiddo's costume (or your own!) to ensure best selection. Shipping is inexpensive and quick so you'll have plenty of time to get those darling costume photos made before All Hallows' Eve!
