DIY TuTu Vanity

Can't get enough TuTu? Make your own TuTu Vanity to accompany your TuTu Table! For instructions on how to make a TuTu Table click here.

Making a TuTu Vanity is even easier than making a TuTu Table, and is a great opportunity to save some items from the dumpster, or score your "supplies" from a local thrift store for super cheap!

What you'll need:
A structurally sound rectangular table
A wall-hanging mirror
A stool
Fabric to cover the table and stool (about 3 yards)
Tulle for the table and stool (LOTS...at least 8 yards)
White spraypaint
Silver spraypaint

Its important that your table, mirror, and stool are structurally sound, but their appearances are not important.

I found a sewing table and a pretty gross-looking mirror at my local thrift store. I paid $10 for the table and $1.99 for the mirror. I found an old nightstand on the side of the road and picked it up. The nightstand had a perfect little stool screwed onto the top (I guess to make another shelf) so I unscrewed it and voila!

Start by spraypainting the legs of the table and stool white. I used spraypaint, but I suppose you could use any paint you have on hand. I also took the mirror apart and spraypainted the frame silver.

Reupholster the tabletop with fabric. Want more detailed instructions for how to reupholster? Click here to watch the video I used to learn.

Reupholster your stool seat, also. To cover a stool that hasn't previously been "covered" just add batting underneath your fabric.

Now, you'll want to cut your table legs down to match your stool height.

Then, add your tulle around the underside of the stool and the table, stapling it in just as we did with the table. To make this step less time consuming, I used four layers of tulle all the way around. The easiest way to do it is to do all four sides, but don't try and go around the legs of both the stool and tabletop. Once you've got those looking how you want, cut some bunches of tulle and staple those on around the corners. You can acheive a more puffy look that way.

You're all done!! Add your TuTu Vanity to whatever room you made it for, and enjoy!
